Boharat is an independent type foundry based in Cairo, Egypt, founded by self-taught lettering artist and type designer Abdo Mohamed. The foundry aims to introduce new flavors to the Arabic design scene by creating retail and custom typefaces that blend traditional Arabic calligraphy with contemporary design. Notable works include 'Felfel', inspired by 1920s Egyptian metal printing press publications and vintage Egyptian film posters, and a custom typeface developed for the Commercial International Bank (CIB), marking the first custom typeface for an Egyptian bank.
