​JTD Type is an independent type foundry founded in 2011 by James Hultquist-Todd and based in Philadelphia. The foundry specializes in crafting high-quality custom and retail typefaces for agencies, studios, and organizations worldwide. Notable typefaces from JTD Type include Chapman, a Scotch Roman family with three widths; Elfreth, a contemporary blackletter designed for versatility; Essonnes, inspired by early 19th-century Didot designs; and Stack, an architectural chromatic typeface reflecting the industrial heritage of the United States. JTD Type has collaborated with clients such as Lidl, Facebook, Nike, and Valve Software. Their work has been recognized in Typographica's Favorite Typefaces and Fontspring’s Best of 2018.
