Labor and Wait is a digital type foundry based in the Hudson River Valley, New York. It was founded by a design collective that previously operated Village (vllg.com) from 2005 to 2023. The foundry specializes in original typefaces for publication and custom typography under the Constellation banner. Notable typefaces include Aero, Apex, Brooklyn, Cassiopeia, Copernicus, Cosmica, and Polaris. Their custom type practice, bspk, has collaborated with clients such as 2x4, ADP, American Museum of Natural History, Mary Ellen Carroll, Cooper Hewitt: Smithsonian Design Museum, Havas, Maharam, Pentagram Design, City of Seattle, Snickers, and Syracuse University. Labor and Wait's work emphasizes the creation of novel forms, utilization of software advances, and the revival of historical models.
